Kosugi Hoan
Painter in oils and in the Japanese manner; his given name was Kunitaro. He first studied Western painting under Bunya Ioki and showed with the Pacific Painting Association under the name “Misei”. From about this time he was friendly with Usen Ogawa. After travelling to Europe he was a member of the Western painting section of the revived Japan Art Institute, and then took part in founding the Shunyokai. He afterwards used the name “Hoan”.
