Kitamura Seibo
He graduated from the Kyoto School of Crafts and from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. In 1915 his early major work “Angry Waves” received a second prize at the Bunten. He is known for the Nagasaki Peace Statue, completed in 1955 after five years’ work. In 1958 he received the Order of Culture and was honoured as a Person of Cultural Merit. In 1969 he received the Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon and became chairman of the Nitten.
