Akino Fuku
In 1948 she took part in founding the Sozo Bijutsu (now the Sokaikai), seeking a new Japanese painting that would take in the qualities of Western painting. In 1962, invited to an Indian university as a visiting professor of Japanese painting, she began to visit India often, painting its landscape, its nature and its temples. She went on to seek places to work in Nepal, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Africa, and worked with great energy.
