His dates are unknown. His working life was confined to 1880–81, and the works that can be attributed to him with certainty are nine views of famous places in Tokyo, published by Arai Hachizo. Making use of light and shade, and of a perspective he had thoroughly absorbed, he left work unlike the ukiyo-e of the Edo period. The influence of Kobayashi Kiyochika can be seen in it, but any connection between the two is unknown.
