Ukiyo-e artist. He studied first under Katori Nahiko and signed Shunman with one set of characters, later changing them. He excelled at kyoka surimono, and made many bijinga from which red was deliberately excluded. He was also at home in chinkin lacquer carving, shellwork and literature — a man of many gifts.
