He graduated from the special art course of the faculty of education at Iwate University. He favoured nature and women as his motifs. In their clear-eyed beauty one seems to see an unforced expression of the mind that recalls the traditional bird-and-flower painting of the East. His prizes include an honourable mention at the Shell Art Award exhibition, the Excellence Prize at the Showakai exhibition, and an honourable mention for the Yasui Prize.
