He received the Ataka Prize while a student in the oil painting course of the faculty of fine arts at Tokyo University of the Arts. “Gathering”, his first submission to the thirty-seventh Kokugakai exhibition, was selected. In 1977 the first Sosuke Morimoto exhibition was held in Ginza. With precise realism he paints women, landscapes and table still lifes of great refinement. He received the Suntory Prize and the Showakai Excellence Prize.
