GALLERY SCENA. presents “Skin at 37.2°C”, a solo exhibition by Ayano Oki.

Ayano Oki is often introduced as a painter of bijinga, yet she keeps stepping outside that frame. Beside the women who appear in her work, bodies of either sex are frequently entwined, suggesting dense relations. She holds her figures with sure draughtsmanship, and then paint is flung across them in defiance of the contours, as though the act of painting itself were joining in what the figures are doing.
