Gallery SHUKADO will be participating in ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2026.

Held in Fukuoka since 2015, ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA is the only art fair in Japan built around the theme of Asia.

At ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2026, SHUKADO presents three artists: Yasunari Ikenaga, Mayumi Tsuzuki and Honoka Okuyama.

At first glance the worlds they paint look very different from one another.

Yasunari Ikenaga builds on the fine techniques of Japanese painting to show not only a woman’s beauty but the feeling, and the wavering of the heart, that lie behind it.

Mayumi Tsuzuki slips a faint wrongness into familiar everyday scenes, painting a world of her own that sets the viewer’s imagination going.

Honoka Okuyama works from memories of growing up in Hokkaido and from the scenes of her days, painting feelings that anyone knows: solitude, and the longing for a place left behind.

What the three have in common is that they do not paint what the eye sees. They lift out, carefully and in paint, what lies behind it — memory, feeling, the accumulation of time.

Three worlds arrived at by three different routes sound together in one space. We hope the presentation conveys the richness of painting, and the power of art to stay close to the human heart.
