Tachibana Sayume worked through the Taisho and early Showa periods, chiefly as an illustrator for magazines and novels.
His strange, seductive pictures, drawn from folk tales and stories of the supernatural, have a firm hold on a certain kind of collector.
Little of his work or of the documentation survives, and he is sometimes called the phantom painter.
This is a rare chance to see his prints together in one place. We hope you will come.
