本展覧会について About the Exhibition

触れ合う手、寄り添う身体、室内に満ちる空気──沖は、日々の生活のなかで交わされる、言葉にならない感情や関係性を、静かな画面の中に描き留めてきました。

誰かと共に生きることは、決して劇的な出来事の連続ではありません。
小さな違和感に折り合いをつけ、面倒くささを引き受けながら、時間を重ねていくこと。
本展では、そうした営みを「糸を縒る」という比喩に重ね、家族やパートナーとの関係が形づくられていく、その手前の時間──プロローグのような瞬間が描かれています。

Touching hands, bodies leaning toward one another, the air that fills an interior space—
Ayano Oki has long depicted the unspoken emotions and relationships that quietly circulate within everyday life, capturing them on calm and contemplative surfaces.

Living together with another person is not a series of dramatic events.
It is the act of coming to terms with small discomforts, accepting moments of inconvenience, and gradually layering time upon time.

In this exhibition, such acts of living are likened to the twisting of threads.
Oki portrays the moments just before relationships with family or partners take shape—
scenes that feel like a quiet prologue to shared life.

作家ステートメント Artist Statement

家族関係について考えようと思った。
育った環境も考え方も違う誰かをパートナーとして選び、
いろいろなことに折り合いをつけながら生活を共に営んでいくことは、
長さの違う糸を縒り合わせるように、
地道で淡々とした努力の積み重ねなのだと愛おしく思う。

I began to think about family relationships.
Choosing someone who grew up in a different environment and thinks differently as a partner,
and building a life together by constantly finding compromises—
to me, this feels like twisting threads of different lengths together,
a steady and quiet accumulation of effort that I find deeply endearing.

見どころ Highlights

本展で描かれているのは、「完成された場面」ではありません。
触れようとする手、向かい合う視線、同じ空間を共有する気配。
それらはどれも、関係が形になる“途中”の時間です。

沖の作品は、家族や恋人といった具体的な関係を描きながらも、
見る人それぞれの記憶や経験を、自然と呼び起こします。
鑑賞者は、画面の外側から眺める存在であると同時に、
いつの間にか、その場に「同席している」ような感覚を覚えるでしょう。

What is depicted in this exhibition are not “finished” scenes.
Hands reaching toward one another, gazes that meet, the sense of sharing a single space—
all of these exist in moments that are still “in progress,” before relationships fully take form.

While Oki’s works portray specific relationships such as family members or lovers,
they naturally evoke each viewer’s own memories and experiences.

Viewers may find themselves not only observing from outside the picture plane,
but gradually feeling as though they are quietly “present” within the scene itself.

作品の背景について Background of the Works

沖綾乃は、これまで「美人画」として紹介されることが多い作家でした。
そのなかでも、単に「見られる」女性の肖像というよりは、感情を持ち、他者とかかわろうとする揺れる「存在」としての女性像とでした。

今回は、「食卓」や「手」といったモチーフを通して、
生活のなかに潜む時間や関係性を描いています。。
それは静物として固定された情景ではなく、
人の出入りや感情の揺れを含んだ、生きた場としての風景です。

本展では、家族やパートナーと過ごす時間そのものが、主題として立ち上がってきています。
その流れの中で生まれた新作・近作を中心に構成されています。

Ayano Oki has long centered her practice on figurative expression.
In recent years, through motifs such as dining tables and hands,
her focus has shifted toward time and relationships embedded within everyday life.

These are not fixed, still-life scenes,
but living spaces that contain the comings and goings of people and the subtle fluctuations of emotion.

n this exhibition, time spent with family and partners emerges as the central theme,
and the show is composed primarily of new and recent works created within this ongoing exploration.
