Shihori Hattori, who has long taken on classical subjects and old stories, turns here to Momotaro, the Peach Boy. The dog, the monkey and the pheasant who go with him, the ogres, and Momotaro himself, all in Hattori’s own idiom.

昔話「桃太郎」に出てくるお供の動物のうち一体の犬（擬人化）を描きました。3匹のお供はそれぞれに役割を成していて、それを神話の神様にもなぞらえてみました。犬では月読を取り入れています。

淡彩水墨で仕上げ、繊細な表現を活かせる画面作りをしています。月の神秘性を、柔らかかつ張り詰めた表現で記すようしました。（服部しほり）
