絵画の世界に、「猫」というジャンルが確立されたかのように、世の中には次々に猫の絵が生み出されている。可愛い猫の絵は沢山ある。その中で台湾の画家、陳珮怡（チン・ぺイイ）の猫は生きている。絵の中で確実に生きている。新作「警戒」、絨毯の上で身構えるこの猫は一秒後に対象に飛びかかるのか、ぷぃっと立ち去ってしまうのか？　一種の緊張感が漂う。

The reason why Chen draw cats is not because she just love them, or not also because they are popular. Once she even dared to avoid to draw them. She do not know at first how to empathize with cats, she says. Her attitude faceing seriously with the material and the motif is common with Ikenaga who found the color of his “skin” over 10 years. Cats and carpets drawn with sharpened sensibilities caught people’s mind and orders are flooded, but she says humbly “I am still looking for a style of painting.” (Chiaki Tanaka, President of Shukado)

単に猫好きだから、流行っているから猫を描くわけではない。あえて避けていた時もあった。題材としてどう感情移入すればよいか最初はわからなかったと言う。素材と対象に真摯に向き合う姿は、自分の考える「肌」の色を十年かけて見出した池永に通じる。研ぎすまされた感性で描いた猫と絨毯は人々の心を捉え、注文が殺到しているが、「私はまだ絵のスタイルと模索している最中」とその姿はあくまで謙虚だ。（秋華洞　田中千秋）
