At Online Gallery Shukado, we introduce and sell a wide-range of first-class Japanese fine arts from the Edo era to modern times. This website is run by Shukado KK, which was founded in 2003 by Jichiro Tanaka who has over 40 years experience in the art business and opened its store in 2006 in the Ginza district of Tokyo.
We sell a wide range of Japanese fine arts and mainly deal in Japanese fine arts and antiques.
Our main items are modern paintings, paintings, calligraphic works, byobu, scrolls, antique books, antique manuscripts, antique books and rare books. We also deal with other items including sculptures, artifacts, tea ceremony utensils etc.
We will do our best to collect the finest Japanese paintings (both Japanese and Western style paintings) which reflect “Japanese traditions” as our main items. As a proverb says, “The darkest place is under the candle stick”, Japanese people may have been over looking their excellent traditions. We hope that we will be able to re-discover such Japanese traditions with our customers and share the joy of appreciating Japanese artists’ skills and their deep philosophies through our items.
